Paralympic Coverage Begins This Week

The Paralympic Games get underway this week, and NBC Universal will provide live coverage of the event. Coverage of the 2024 Paris Paralympics starts with the Opening Ceremony on Wednesday, August 28, with pre-show coverage beginning at 5 p.m. ET.

Some of the most dramatic Paralympic competitions will feature amputee athletes. Here's where and when to watch America's top amputee Paralympians:

Track and Field

  • Tatyana McFadden: The most decorated Paralympic athlete in history, McFadden will compete in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, and 1500m races.
  • Jessica Long: A 13-time Paralympic gold medalist, Long will compete in the 100m, 200m, and 400m freestyle races.
  • Justin Phongsavanh: A rising star in the Paralympic movement, Phongsavanh will compete in the javelin throw.

Swimming

  • Jessica Long: See above.
  • Mallory Weggemann: A two-time Paralympic gold medalist, Weggemann will compete in the 50m and 100m freestyle races.
  • Rebecca Meyers: A four-time Paralympic gold medalist, Meyers will compete in the 100m and 200m breaststroke races.

  • Blake Haxton: A two-time Paralympic medalist, Haxton will compete in the wheelchair basketball tournament.
  • Oz Sanchez: A three-time Paralympic medalist, Sanchez will compete in the wheelchair tennis tournament.
  • David Wagner: A two-time Paralympic medalist, Wagner will compete in the sitting volleyball tournament.
