The New England Patriots and the entire football community are in mourning today following the tragic news of the passing of former NFL offensive lineman Korey Cunningham. The 28-year-old was found dead in his New Jersey home on Thursday, according to ESPN.
Cunningham played a total of 12 games for the Patriots under head coach Bill Belichick. He also spent two seasons with the New York Giants, appearing in 13 games. According to the Giants' website, Cunningham had been working as a real estate agent since retiring from football in 2022.
The cause of Cunningham's death has not yet been released. The Patriots released a statement expressing their sorrow over the loss of their former player.
"The Patriots family is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Korey Cunningham," the statement read. "Korey was a dedicated teammate and a valued member of our organization. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time."
