Recent Storms Damage Iowa
Iowa has been hit by a series of severe storms in recent weeks, causing widespread damage and loss of life. On Friday, quarter-size hail pelted Ames, Iowa, and a destructive storm tore through Greenfield, Iowa, about 50 miles southwest of Des Moines. On Tuesday, a tornado pummeled Greenfield, killing multiple people and injuring at least a dozen. A tornado watch remains in effect until at least 6 pm Some portions of western Iowa are under a tornado warning.
Greenfield, Iowa Hit Hard
The town of Greenfield, Iowa, has been hit particularly hard by the storms. Five people have died, and at least 35 were injured. The community is facing a long road ahead as they recover from the devastation. Storm chasers captured a large tornado as it crossed the road near Shelby, Iowa, early Friday evening.
